All pieces and parts are original and it keeps excellent time.
It strikes twice an hour and the sound is divine!
Priced at $1650.
The beautiful quilt we have hanging behind the check out counter at FOUND is being offered for sale as a fund raiser for the Mecklenburg Methodist Church on Turnpike Road in Mecklenburg, NY.
The border is made from newer material, but the rest of the quilt top has been authenticated to be made of fabric from the late 1930s and early 40s. It was pieced together by someone in the Mecklenburg area around that time.
Several years ago the quilt was donated to the Mecklenburg Church Thrift shop. Jean Taber, Yvonne Foote, Carol Kellogg, Calina Mayo and her daughter Emma attached the border, hand-quilted and finished it so could be offered for purchase.
The colors are vibrant and festive and the handwork is incredible! It measures 80 x 96 inches and is priced at $300.
As requested, here’s the recipe!
2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 15 oz can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
2 cups unbleached flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves
Cream Cheese Frosting
2 8 oz packages cream cheese, softened to room temp
1 stick of butter, softened to room temp
Zest of half an orange
2 to 3 teaspoons milk (or substitute fresh orange juice)
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar (sometimes I use more if I want it stiffer)
Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 15x10x1-inch pan with PAM
In large bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, oil and pumpkin until smooth. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices. Spread in pan.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely
Beat cream cheese, butter, milk (or juice) and vanilla with mixer on low speed until smooth. Gradually add in powdered sugar, a cup at a time, on low speed until smooth and spreadable.
We double dare you not to eat them all yourself!
