Anesti Zakos: The Myths of Gulliver

December 14, 2011 - January 15, 2012

The Gallery @ FOUND is pleased to welcome a new show by Ithaca area artist Anesti Zakos. The Myths of Gulliver is part of a larger series that encompasses many years of works from the past decade. This body of work revolves around the notion or feeling of confinement, trapped, or out of place. The inspiration for the work is from Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels”. The work is something that has been stirred from deep within that hasn’t spoken in a while. It embodies a form that lay dormant for what seemed like ages, and has been awoken. From its new found life shall breath upon its surroundings and speak.

The Myths of Gulliver opens Wednesday, December 14th. An artist’s reception will take place on Thursday, December 15th from 5-7pm. We invite you to see the show, meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments! The show will hang in the Gallery until January 15th.

Anesti’s work explores many of the elements that drive us each day – our inescapable relationship with our emotional state, the barriers of our own creation, and the curiosity that keeps us striving forward despite those obstacles.
