Jon Reis: Road Trip, Amazing Photos of Unseen America

November 16, 2011 - December 11, 2011

The Gallery @ FOUND is excited to welcome a new show by Ithaca area photographer Jon Reis. Road Trip, Amazing Photos of Unseen America reaches back into his Jon’s archives and features selected images that typify his career photographing American Roadside attractions in the 1970’s and 80’s.  His work is humorous, surprising, and ironic.

The show opens Wednesday, November 16th. An artist’s reception will take place on Thursday, November 17th from 5-7pm. Please stop by to meet the artist, see the show and enjoy light refreshments! Help us spread the word! Head over to event page on Facebook to RSVP and share with your friends.

The photographs of Jon Reis have been seen around Ithaca, New York and elsewhere for 35+ years.  He began his career at the Ithaca Journal; then free-lanced his images to the Ithaca Times, Grapevine Press, and many major national magazines such as Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Business Week, American Demographics and others. He launched his commercial studio in 1982 in downtown Ithaca and just recently morphed it into a Portrait Studio / Photo Gallery / Digital darkroom. Along the way he has taught photography at Ithaca College and Cornell University.

A large body of Jon’s work is in the Lightwork/Community Darkroom Archive in Syracuse, NY and they have sponsored him for numerous photographer grants including a NYSCA grant that resulted in a major retrospective. He is a member of the  Greater Ithaca Art Trail and the American Society of Media Photographers.
